Charity Partnership: Cancer Card + Accountability Edinburgh
We decided in our team day in 2024 to start a charity partnership initiative - where we donate 5% of our net profits quarterly and actively fundraise for the chosen charity. This year, after shortlisting applications - and an overwhelming vote in their favour - we elected Cancer Card as our charity partner, beginning May 2025.
Over the course of the year we have:
Conducted a healthcheck pro-bono - and offered recommendations on where we could improve Cancer Card’s financial processes
Taken part in the blister-inducing, but incredibly rewarding, 10 and 20 mile Kiltwalk routes
Sent the Accountability cheerleaders out to cheer on marathon runners at the Edinburgh Marathon
Packed comfort boxes for cancer patients - pairing gloves and having debates on which colourways of hats/ scarves would go with them!
Volunteered at Cancer Card’s ball hosted at Prestonfield Lodge - a glam evening which we were delighted to play a small part in
Arranged a charity finance network event in September - where we brought together charities from across Scotland, offered some top tips on how to use Xero and had open networking.
We are delighted to announce the total funds raised and donated over the course of our partnership was £3,265.61!
We have had an incredible experience - and would like to thank Cancer Card for allowing us to be a small part of the work they’re doing.
Our Community Champion, Jill, said:
“Cancer Card is an incredibly focussed charity which has helped so many people find the support they need when they are diagnosed with cancer, and we have been very privileged to be able to help them over the past year as our charity partner.
As a small office, many of whom work from home, we have all enjoyed supporting Cancer Card over the last year. I personally loved walking the Kiltwalk for the charity, marching through areas of Edinburgh and East Lothian I hadn’t been to before and being greeted by Lorraine and Gordon at the end.
The April Challenge was great fun, and we managed to raise a lot of money through some fun office missions! The swear/sigh challenge in the office was great fun as well as we quickly realised we all did both more than we thought and took great pleasure in ‘clyping’ on each other. The step challenge was taken seriously, and the team managed to walk an eye-watering 2,315,106 steps in April, averaging 9,646 steps per day - that’s a lot of walking!”
What’s next?
