Accountex 2025

Everyone in the team gets a CPD budget to spend on professional qualifications with the AAT or CIPP, and a portion is reserved to attend in-person industry events. These are an extremely valuable opportunity for the team to

  • network with other accountants

  • meet our software partners

  • hear from key speakers

And our clients benefit from a team who have spent time understanding the trends and advancements in the industry.

In May 2025, we took 7 of the team down to London for Accountex - the World’s largest event for accountancy and finance professionals. Heather, one of our Accounts Seniors, tells us about her time across the border below!

Heather’s first Accountex experience

The first thing I did at my first Accountex was got lost! We were on the hunt for the cloakroom and ended up at the wrong end of the Excel entirely.

We eventually found our way to the entrance and went straight to the first talk of the day. I attended six talks on day one, my favourite being Get a day back in your calendar every week with Paul Holbrook. I left inspired and ready to reorganise my diary – and even hung around at the end to ask questions.

Another notable talk on day one was How Bookkeepers Will Save Our Species and Why We Must with a panel of Scott Johnson, James Lizars, Kathryn Frimond and Penelope Allard. It was great to see so much passion regarding Sustainability and some engaging debate.

I joked about being reminded to eat and drink water and discovered myself not doing either until late in the day as the time flew so quickly.

We ended day one and went off to dinner together to talk about our day with some incredible food. The restaurant was chosen by my colleague Marie and was a hit! If you find yourself in London, I recommend Roe in Canary Wharf.

Day two started and I went to say hi to a few of our lovely software providers, it was lovely to catch up in person.

After this, I got a coffee and good chat with colleagues I don’t see often which I think would say was my highlight of day two! Some team time together just in a small group was much needed.

I ended the day with a couple more talks, the standout for me on day two was From £200 to £1M Then Exit: Scaling an Accounting Business Without Investment by Laura Taylor.

A jam-packed couple of days, lots of fun had and motivation gained. My first Accountex has felt like a success. Feeling grateful to work for a company that encourages CPD and these types of events! Thank you Accountex and Accountability Edinburgh.
